Functional Urology

Functional Urology (Overview)

Urology Canberra provides assessment and management of bladder and urinary function problems, including overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, and refractory lower urinary tract symptoms, using a range of medical, minimally invasive, and office-based therapies tailored to individual needs.

Overactive Bladder (Medical & Neuromodulation Therapy)

Management of overactive bladder symptoms such as urgency, frequency, and urge incontinence using a stepwise approach that may include medications, neuromodulation therapies, and specialist bladder-directed treatments for refractory cases.

Bladder Botox (Office-Based Treatment)

Botulinum toxin (Botox) injections into the bladder wall are used in selected patients with overactive bladder who have not responded adequately to first-line therapies, helping to reduce urgency and urinary leakage.

PTNS (Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation)

PTNS is a minimally invasive neuromodulation therapy that stimulates the tibial nerve near the ankle to help regulate bladder activity and improve symptoms of overactive bladder over a course of treatments.

Emsella Chair Therapy

Emsella chair therapy uses high-intensity electromagnetic stimulation to activate pelvic floor muscles and is used as a non-invasive option for mild to moderate urinary incontinence in suitable patients.
