Stone Management (Overview)

Urology Canberra provides assessment and management of kidney and urinary tract stones using minimally invasive and office-based approaches tailored to the individual patient and clinical situation.

Office-Based Stone Management (Obstructing Stones)

Selected obstructing stones may be managed in an office setting under sedation to relieve symptoms and restore urinary flow, depending on stone location, size, and clinical urgency.

ESWL (Shockwave Lithotripsy)

ESWL (extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy) is available in Canberra through Equinox Urology and is used to fragment suitable kidney and upper urinary tract stones using focused shockwave energy without the need for endoscopic surgery.

Ureteroscopy with Laser Stone Treatment

Ureteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a small camera passed through the urinary tract to directly visualise and treat stones. High-powered holmium laser technology is used to fragment and clear stones, including in one-stop procedures where complete stone clearance is achieved in a single session when appropriate.
